Overview
The Business Analyst provides technical vision, oversight and ensures technical excellence for a USAID-funded RISE GVAX Programme. They will support the National Department of Health – Digital Health Unit (NDOH – DHU) by analyzing business requirements, documenting processes, and providing insights to develop Digital Systems that meet the NDoH – DHU requirements. They are accomplished within their specialization and apply significant, in-depth and / or high degree of expertise in digital health within the public health sector, including the application of knowledge in broader related areas.
Responsibilities
- Analyze business and user requirements (functional and process)
- Define system software requirements, User Interface, System Process Flow, and general software and component design
- Document functional requirement definitions and give input into technical design, including infrastructural requirements · To document business and users’ acceptance criteria and performance requirements
- Oversee the functional delivery of system software development from start to end
- Certify delivered systems according to requirement definitions and the performance/acceptance criteria
- Focus on the delivery of solutions for project
- Develop and maintain close stakeholder involvement through consultation and to keep informed as may be required
- Inspire change management and communication requirements of projects
Teamwork:
- Participates fully as a team member; supports a positive work environment that promotes quality service to the NDOH and organization and ensures timely communication of issues/points of interest.
- Supports the team by continuously enhancing knowledge / expertise in assigned functional area and participates in knowledge transfer within the team.
- Participates in personal performance management and development activities, including cross-training within own team.
- Keeps RISE leadership informed and up to date about the status / progress of projects and all relevant / useful information related to day-to-day activities.
- Stays knowledgeable of practices and procedures and keeps abreast of emerging trends for own functional area.
- Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with organizational mission, goals and objectives and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- BSc in Business Analysis/ Computer Science/Information Systems
- Postgrad Qualification in Computer Science/ Information Systems/ Business Management/ Project Management
- A minimum of 5 years’ direct involvement in a Business and/or Process Analysis unit with cross divisional/departmental information and process flows and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a role in Public Services, and preferably in the public health sector
- Experience with hospital information systems and having specific BA responsibilities for a large system deployment project spanning multiple sites
- Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies
- Strong computer technical skills
- The ability to communicate confidently from both a business and a technical perspective, successfully translating executive, business corporate and application functional requirements to a technical community with minimum loss of understanding and appreciation.
- Monitoring and managing the delivery of a final application outcome that answers for the agreed executive, business corporate and application functional requirements.
- Experience working with NDOH and USAID-funded organizations will be an added advantage.
- In depth knowledge of South African public health environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge for Agile and Prince 2 methodology in both System Development Lifecycle(SDLC) and Business Change Lifecycle (BCLC)
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman
- Knowledge Information Technology governance framework such as COBIT
- National Certificate in Business Analysis (NCBA)/Advanced Certificate in Business Analysis/Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
- Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, sensitivity, and respect for confidentiality.
- The ability to communicate confidently from both a business and a technical perspective, successfully translating executive, business corporate and application functional requirements to a technical community with minimum loss of understanding and appreciation.
- Effective organizational skills, attention to details and ability to handle a large volume of work in an efficient and timely manner
- Highly motivated, energetic, independent self-starter with strong team
- Demonstrated use of initiative and ability to make appropriate linkages in work requirements and anticipate next steps
- Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies
- Strong Proficiency in computer applications to include MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerBI, and PowerPoint
- Monitoring and managing the delivery of a final application outcome that answers for the agreed executive, business corporate and application functional requirements.
- Ability to travel (nationally 10 to 20%)
