Salary: UH8 £43,155pa (pro rata) to £45,737pa (pro rata) with potential to progress to £54,421pa (pro rata) by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 30 days (pro rata) plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane and De Havilland Campus, Hatfield. We are currently operating flexible location principles with both remote working and time on campus required.
The Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) works with around 600 primary schools a year, growing confident leaders and teachers of science through professional development and school improvement, building children’s attainment and aspiration in science. Main duties and responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of this job include financial management, business and operational leadership and staff management.
As Business and Finance Manager (Primary Science Quality Mark), you will work with the PSQM Co-Director in the production of the Annual Business Plan, forecasting and budget management (including the collection and preparation of data as required relating to PSQM Project performance); managing, monitoring and improving operational processes relating to the core PSQM programme; and having general oversight of staff issues for those within the allocated group. This includes onboarding new starters and managing their probation, through to appraisal and development, and reviewing performance in line with the policies and procedures agreed by the University.

Skills and experience required
We are looking for someone with proven experience of working in a financial management role, who can think strategically and entrepreneurially. It is essential that you have good IT skills, including the use of MS Word, Excel, MS Office packages and have experience of using financial software programmes. This post requires strong interpersonal and customer-facing skills with the ability to manage a wide range of internal and external contacts including by telephone, email and face to face. Experience of working in the higher and/or primary education sector is desirable.
This role requires someone with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively, to meet tight deadlines and deal with conflicting priorities. You will have a high level of initiative and pay attention to detail as well as demonstrate sound personal judgement when handling confidential and sensitive material. This is a varied role which will require a flexible and can-do attitude and an ability to learn new skills.
The post holder should be educated with a minimum of a degree or equivalent OR have proven professional experience. You must also be at least a part-qualified member of a professional accounting qualification (level achieved to be clearly stated on application) OR have equivalent proven professional experience.
