Are you ambitious, a strong communicator, and eager to kickstart a career in the fast-moving renewables industry?
We’re looking for a driven and personable Business Development Associate to join our fast-growing Sales & BD team. This entry-level role is perfect for someone who’s competitive, curious, and keen to build a career in sales within the renewables sector.
You’ll be supported from day one and based at either our Cambridge or Glasgow office.
Midsummer Energy specialises in solar PV systems. The bulk of our turnover is in distributing complete solar PV kits, including solar panels, inverters, mounting systems and electrical components, to a network of installation customers. We also sell heat pumps, smaller off-grid solar set ups and we’ve also developed industry-leading tools like Easy PV and Heatpunk, which are revolutionising how our customers work.
We’ve grown significantly from humble beginnings – our first storeroom was the front room of a narrowboat, but we now run multiple warehouses in Cambridge, Glasgow and Dublin.
We’re passionate about the environment, and we’ve gained a reputation for a helpful and open approach to business, and our staff share a common sense of purpose.
As a Business Development Associate, you’ll be supporting the BD team to grow Midsummer’s customer base and help existing customers get the best out of Midsummer. You’ll play a key role in helping to maintain strong customer relationships, assist with onboarding new accounts, reengaging dormant accounts and support general business development activities across the company. You’re the first line of defence (or offence!) for the Midsummer BD team!
This is a great opportunity for someone who’s motivated by achieving goals, whether you’re the type who thrives in energetic conversations or prefers focused, strategic outreach. Either way, you’ll need to be competitive, driven, and eager to succeed, but always being approachable and collaborative. We’re looking for someone who is:
You don’t need a technical background – we’ll teach you what you need to know. What matters most is enthusiasm, great communication, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
“As a BDA you’ll be hands-on with customers, looking to understand customer requirements, where they sit in the market, and how Midsummer can best fit into their supply chain. You’ll be both pro-active and reactive, onboarding new companies, and approaching companies that currently don’t procure through Midsummer” –Ollie B, May 2025
This is a full-time role based in Cambridge or Glasgow, with the potential for future hybrid or remote working for the right candidate.
Midsummer Energy is committed to making diversity, equity, and inclusion part of everything we do – from how we support our customers to how we build our workforce. We actively celebrate colleagues’ different abilities, sexual orientation, ethnicity, faith, and gender. Everyone is welcome and supported in their development at all stages in their journey with us.
