The University of Aberdeen is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Business Development Executive to join the teams at the National Decommissioning Centre and in Research & Innovation to lead on industry engagement and Business development for Energy to meet the University’s ambitious targets for enterprise and innovation.The Business Development Executive will lead the development of partnerships with industry and other key stakeholders, working closely with academic schools to identify, initiate and drive forward a range of commercial opportunities within the Energy sector (encompassing renewables, decarbonisation of fossil fuel production, offshore wind (fixed and floating), carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), hydrogen and decommissioning including nuclear). The post holder will be responsible for a range of ambitious targets within the University’s Strategic Plan 2040, including contract research, consultancy and developing strategic industry partnerships. For the first two years there will be a strong focus on expanding the research and enterprise base of the National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) in conjunction with the University’s Centre for Energy Transition.You will have a good first degree in a relevant STEM subject, with strong commercial and technical expertise (preferably in an R&D setting), ideally with a postgraduate qualification or Chartered membership of a relevant professional body. You will have a track record of meeting or exceeding business development or sales targets, demonstrating the ability to manage resources, workloads and changing priorities.Well organised, astute and highly motivated, we are looking for an individual to work both independently on your own initiative, and effectively as part of the newly created externally facing Enterprise & Innovation Team within the Directorate of Research & Innovation.
