This role requires a strong understanding of reinsurance operations, as well as experience working on insurance systems used in commercial insurance and reinsurance industry.This is a unique opportunity to build your knowledge and experience for the future in a supportive environment where your voice matters.This is a hybrid work opportunity.What you will do –

  • Conduct thorough analysis of reinsurance business requirements, develop understanding of the reinsurance management systems and partner with stakeholders to implement changes within the systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments, including underwriting, claims, finance, and IT, to gather requirements and understand business needs.
  • Develop understanding of the Canada’s reinsurance platform, operating processes, while building relationships with peers in other business units/regions to understand the approach, solutions etc.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including business requirements, process flows, and system configurations, to ensure clear communication and alignment with stakeholders.
  • As part of the IT teams, work with the teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and support the implementation of system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Conduct testing of system changes and enhancements to ensure accuracy and functionality, including coordination of user acceptance testing with business stakeholders.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on the use of reinsurance programs and systems, including troubleshooting issues and resolving inquiries.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies related to reinsurance and insurance operations, and incorporate relevant insights into business analysis and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and lead activities with product owners to gather detailed requirements through interviews, documentation, and working sessions, ensuring clear communication and documentation management.
  • Analyze requirements to determine system potential, define impacts on other business units and systems, and provide input to development efforts for approved projects and enhancements.
  • Create process models based on business requirements to assess completeness and guide users in building business cases, providing cost/benefit analysis, risk assessment, and scope definition.
  • Lead individual or sub-project tasks affecting single or multiple business and IT departments, managing work plans, timelines, and budgets effectively.
  • Support system configuration, integration testing, and implementation activities, ensuring functionality, performance, and fit to meet original requirements, while also mentoring team members in technology and application delivery.

Job QualificationsWhat you bring to the table:Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or computer Science or Engineering and 5 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area.

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area.

AND

  • Process reengineering; LEAN/Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience with process modeling tools.
  • Insurance application system design/analysis experience.
  • Experience with use case development.
  • Experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools/techniques.

Preferred:

  • Reinsurance experience in the commercial insurance industry.
  • Experience with Treaty and Facultative reinsurance.
  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP).
  • Advanced Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) skills.
  • Consulting experience.
  • Experience in a analytical role on complex enterprise projects.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance business processes and processing.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
