While we are headquartered in Calgary and maintain a satellite office in Houston.What You Would Do in This RoleThe Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for performing procurement activities to ensure the timely purchase of materials and equipment to meet project requirements. Duties include:

• Working within a project team environment, potentially on multiple projects
• Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement while adhering to client requirements and proper procurement practices
• Maintaining status reports
• Preparing, issuing and evaluating standard procurement documents including bid lists, request for quotation and commercial bid evaluations
• Purchasing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, structural steel and piping commodity materials and equipment
• Executing appropriate bidding strategies
• Creating and issuing purchase orders for materials and equipment
• Assisting in the negotiation of progress payments
• Developing and managing vendor/contractor relationships
• Assisting with expediting, as required
• Performing other duties as requested
• Attending and potentially managing purchase order kick off meetings
• Attending local shop expediting visits, as required
• Closing purchase orders
• Communicating with suppliers to resolve issues affecting a purchase order
• Attending status meetings with suppliers
• Reviewing material and service invoices for accuracy
• Coordinating transportation and logistics, as required
• Performing other duties as requested

Requirements

• Four (4) years of purchasing experience
• Willingness to complete expediting activities as required
• High-school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment
• Ability to work without supervision

Preferred

• Experience in contracts
• Post-secondary certification or equivalent
• Five years of purchasing experience in an engineering, procurement, construction environment
