We are a dynamic, multidisciplinary group of tax, audit, and science and technology professionals who work with companies of all sizes in many different industries, helping them maximize their tax credits and achieve their business objectives. We’re looking for qualified accountants or tax professionals to join our team in Calgary, and actively contribute to our evolving and expanding suite of services supporting innovation, energy transition and related projects across Western Canada.Position description:As a Manager, BTI Costing Specialist you will be part of a team working with a variety of clients, from entrepreneurs to public corporations, to evaluate and prepare their SRED claims and find other incentives and cash tax savings to help their business. This involves meeting with CTOs, CFOs, engineers, scientists and tax professionals to assess the client’s eligibility to receive funding, establishing how much they can claim, and working with your EY technical peers to identify and prepare SRED claims, capital asset reviews and incentives applications. You will be responsible for managing relationships to provide value to clients and developing skills in project management, risk assessment and business development.   • Learn to determine clients’ eligibility for various incentives, and provide advice and support during various project planning phases
  • Prepare qualifying expenditure summaries and review expenditures on major capital projects
  • Assist with the preparation of incentive related tax forms
  • Analyze CRA policies and Income Tax Legislation and gain expertise to apply to client specific situations
  • Work with systems and tools related to SRED and tax incentives
  • Assist and lead reviews with the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Build strong relationships with clients, manage their expectations and meet strict deliverable deadlines
  • Support our local Calgary practice while integrating into our cross-functional national team
  • Lead and mentor junior members of the team to help them develop their skills and knowledge as well as exceed client expectations
  • Manage client engagements including scheduling, resourcing and delivery

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in accounting or related discipline
  • Four or more years’ experience in accounting or tax; knowledge of the SRED program is an asset
  • Strong skills in Excel, SharePoint and familiarity with tax preparation software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to interview and effectively probe for information
  • The ability to think quickly and creatively to determine innovate solutions for client problems
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines, both on individual tasks and as part of multi-disciplinary client service team
  • Previous experience in a professional services firm in a tax or audit capacity is an asset

The salary range for this job in British Columbia $59,000 to $96,000.
