Campaign and Communications Intern (Paid)

Mission of the organisation

CHEM Trust’s vision is a world where humans and wildlife co-exist with a sustainable chemical
industry, and synthetic chemicals are prevented from causing long-term damage to nature or
people by ensuring that chemicals which cause such harm are substituted with safer
alternatives.

We are a dynamic and influential NGO, working mainly at the EU and UK levels. We are
science-based and work closely with NGOs and others in Brussels, around Europe and beyond.

CHEM Trust is a collaboration between CHEM Trust, a UK registered Charity and CHEM Trust Europe
eV, which is a charity (eV) based in Germany. Both legal entities work closely together on

Summary of this role

The intern will work with the Policy and Advocacy team to support and develop CHEM Trust’s
work, helping us maximise our effectiveness and impact.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of our work, and learn from our
extensive experience of campaigning, advocacy and policymaking.

You will also learn about working in networks of civil society organisations in the UK and the
EU and how we work with other stakeholders such as civil servants, politicians, academics and
business.

This role, on a 12-month fixed-term contract, includes:

  • Helping to develop our campaigning and advocacy work;
  • Developing and monitoring our communications including our social media reach;
  • Ensuring that the organisation works effectively.

Location and working hours 

  • 5 days per week, 35 hrs per week.
  • Holiday: 31 working days per annum in addition to the normal public holidays.
  • At least 3 days a week at The Impact Hub, Euston, London, which is where other members of the team are
    based. 
  • CHEM Trust will provide a laptop, software etc for the period of the internship.

The deadline for applications is 12 midnight (UK time) on Sunday, 16th March 2025.

We plan to interview shortlisted candidates virtually (via Zoom) on 1st and 2nd April.

We hope that we can have someone in the role in May 2025.
