Case Management Coordinator

Job Summary: 

The primary role of the Case Management Coordinator is to coordinate and supervise all aspects of Services to Trauma Affected Refugees’ (STAR) services, including leadership of staff and interns. This position will supervise the delivery of evidence-based mental health interventions by reviewing client eligibility assessments, interviews, and service plans, conduct regular case conferences, and assist the Deputy Director with program planning, implementation, and program monitoring & evaluation. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates day to day operations of clinical services in collaboration with IRC programs. Provide training to student interns and non-STAR staff regarding services, programs, and guidelines.
  • Creation or revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, goals, and objectives.
  • Reviews all eligibility screenings and interviews to determine eligibility for enrollment.
  • Ensures staff to client and supervisor to staff ratios in alignment with field standards
  • Ensures STAR staff are trained in core competencies to deliver quality work; understand and adherence to crisis protocols
  • Assists with grant compliance, data tracking, budget tracking, and grant reporting.
  • Assist with program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities.
  • Ensure monitoring/audit documents, records and tracking tools for case files, reporting.
  • Support program capacity expansion both internally and through external partnerships.
  • Provide training to partner organizations on technical topics.
  • Track budgets, program expenditures and activities, ensure donor deliverables are met, compile data and draft reports as required by donor and agency specifications.
  • Review and be familiar with Iowa statues and rules regularly and comply with the requirements and laws.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, or counseling.

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of related social work experience
  • Previous experience in supervisory role overseeing program implementation
  • Experience working with forcibly displaced populations (refugees, asylum seekers, torture survivors, and survivors of human-trafficking, foreign nationals or other vulnerable populations).
  • Experience working effectively with service partners, colleagues, and clients in a cross-cultural, team-based environment.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively across lines of difference with respect to race, gender, ethnicity, language, religion and age
  • Demonstrates skills in trauma-informed care
  • Strong understanding of the systems that intersect with migration and resettlement
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
  • Ability to follow strict guidelines of client confidentiality and safeguarding
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with data-tracking systems
  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle with current insurance

Working Environment: 

  • A combination of standard office environment and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • Regular travel between IRC Iowa City and Des Moines offices is expected, staff should plan weekly travel to non-based office.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
