The CCAC Programme Specialist (Governance, Strategy) will assist with delivery of the CCAC governance functions, including support to the CCAC Board and Co-Chairs, various decision-making processes, reviews of project proposals, monitoring progress towards the CCAC 2030 Strategy, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

The UNEP-convened Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society.

The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming.

It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone. More information about the Global Methane Pledge is here: www.globalmethanepledge.org The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat at the Economy Division in Paris.

The CCAC Programme Specialist (Governance, Strategy) will assist with delivery of the CCAC governance functions, including support to the CCAC Board and Co-Chairs, various decision-making processes, reviews of project proposals, monitoring progress towards the CCAC 2030 Strategy, etc.

The selected candidate will provide hands-on support to: 1. Develop, track and strategise around the CCAC’s annual Work Plan & Budget (WPB) (at programmatic level, not financial) and overall Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Plan (to deliver the CCAC 2030 Strategy) 2.

Review and manage the approval process for CCAC project/grant funding (incl. with the CCAC Funding Task Team and CCAC Board) 3. Draft background papers and strategies for the CCAC Board and/or donors. This may include, for example: new priority areas; progress against WPB/M&E; draft sector theories of change in line with the overall CCAC Theory of Change 4.

Ad hoc governance activities, incl. official communications to all Partners, Board members, draft reporting to donors, coordinating inputs from team, etc

Qualifications/special skills

– Advanced university degree related to international relations, business administration, development or a related field, is required.

A first level university degree combined with additional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. – A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience is required – Experience working with high level government officials is required – Knowledge of climate change and climate-related development issues is required – Advanced knowledge of Excel is highly desirable – Experience in an international environment is desirable – Experience in monitoring & evaluation is desirable

Languages

– Fluency in English is required.

Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.
