About usThe UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences (FPHS) brings together eight academic departments (Child Health, Epidemiology and Health Care, Women’s Health, Cardiovascular Science, Clinical Trials and Methodology, Global Health, Health Informatics, Global Business School for Health) whose common aim is to explore and understand the underlying factors that cause ill-health, and innovate to improve health worldwide.The Institute of Health Informatics (IHI) was established in August 2014. The aim of IHI is to conduct high-quality research that leverages big data and health informatics approaches to improve health at local, national and international levels.The UCL UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in AI-enabled Healthcare Systems is a CDT that started in October 2019. The CDT consists of a 1-year MRes followed by a 3-year PhD. Our training covers everything from modular learning to critical assessment skills and is strongly multi-disciplinary, bridging the gap between engineering, clinical sciences and industry. Each project is led by a supervisory team, drawn from our pool of over 50 supervisors, with expertise in both the relevant area of AI and the relevant clinical specialty. A comprehensive training programme ensures our students develop the skills to confidently produce academic research papers, deliver presentations at conferences and make significant contributions to their chosen research project.About the roleYou will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the AI in Healthcare Systems Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), coordinating all aspects of management and delivery, and implementing decisions taken by the CDT Academic Director. You will play a key role in defining and implementing the strategy for the Centre and developing its profile both internally and externally. You will lead in achieving a high-quality and timely service to current and prospective students, and staff relating to the designated courses/programmes and beyond.The CDT programmes includes an MRes and MPhil/PhD programme and you will lead on the administration of both programmes. As part of a small team, you will be required to provide cross-cover as required and will work collaboratively with colleagues. In order to succeed, you must be collaborative, efficient, organized, and take great care in attention to detail. The role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL, so demands a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook to execute the duties outlined.A full list of responsibilities and person spec can be found in the attached job description.About youYou should be a highly organised and efficient professional with a proven track record in higher education administration and budget management, ideally holding a degree or equivalent experience. You will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, which will enable you to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders, from students to senior academics. You will have great digital, financial and numeracy skills, and the experience to manage a variety of events and committees. You should have an ability to prioritise workloads, work under pressure, and maintain attention to detail, along with your collaborative and proactive approach, which will enable you to confidently manage the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the AI in Healthcare Systems Centre for Doctoral Training.A job description and person specification can be accessed at the bottom of this page.
