Eurasia Group

Position description

Eurasia Group is the world’s leading global research and advisory firm. We help clients understand, anticipate, and respond to instability and opportunities everywhere they do business.

Together with GZERO Media—the go-to source of first insight into geopolitics—and our full-fledged events team, the Eurasia Group umbrella provides a complete political risk solution.

Headquartered in New York, we have offices in Washington, London, São Paulo, Brasilia, Tokyo, Singapore, and San Francisco, as well as on-the-ground experts in more than a hundred countries in every region of the world.

We are committed to analysis that is free of political bias and the influence of private interests.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Central and Eastern Europe Analyst to join our Europe team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the politics and political economy of Central and Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on Poland, Hungary, and Romania. This role involves supporting Eurasia Group’s financial, corporate, and government clients by providing comprehensive analysis and insights into political and economic trends in the region.

This role can be based in Poland, Romania, or Hungary. We will also accept applicants in London but the preferred location is in region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support coverage of Central and Eastern Europe for key clients, including domestic politics, economic trends, sectoral developments, and foreign policy issues.
  • Conduct in-depth research on current and future political and economic trends.
  • Leverage a network of contacts in Poland, Hungary, and Romania within policymaking, think tank, and academic fields.
  • Report and analyze political and economic developments regularly, tracking key issues in the region.
  • Prepare briefs, speaking notes, and background materials for client-facing presentations.
  • Collect data and perform quantitative and qualitative research, providing strategic advice and thought leadership.
  • Support the Europe Research team in project management, client relationship maintenance, and resource mobilization.
  • Produce both short analyses and longer reports, often briefing clients on content.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in one or more Central and Eastern European languages is essential.
  • Advanced degree in political science, international relations, or a related discipline (master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience in both public and private sectors; management consulting or managing complex projects is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in political and economic analysis of Central and Eastern Europe.
  • Deep knowledge of Poland, Hungary, and Romania’s political and economic environments; familiarity with broader European developments is advantageous.
  • Exceptional oral presentation skills in English, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-expert audiences; candidates will undergo a writing test.
  • Understanding of macroeconomic and financial market concepts is preferable.
  • Flexibility and ability to meet deadlines while managing competing priorities effectively.

Travel Requirements:

  • The role may require periodic travel within the region to fulfill job responsibilities effectively.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the specified locations.
