Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Smiths employs approximately 16,000 colleagues in over 50 countries.Job DescriptionWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a CFD Engineer to join the Innovation team reporting to the Senior Staff Engineer. This position in John Crane Core Technology and Simulation, a group focusing on the development of technologies and concepts, simulation, and core technology understanding to support the product portfolio of mechanical seals (Turbo Gas and Pump/ Agitator) and Filtration for the next generation of John Crane Products, is part of our strategy to strengthen John Crane’s simulation capability and anchor simulation as a fundamental pillar in New Product Development (NPD), Core Technology as well as an essential tool for engineering solutions.In this role, the CFD Specialist will be responsible for performing advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations focused on new product development (NPD) and technology projects for John Crane’s Filtration and Turbo Gas Seal divisions. The CFD simulations are focused on both gas as (Newtonian) liquids applications. Working closely with the engineering and NPD teams, the specialist will not only perform high-level CFD simulations, but will also participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve and expand our CFD simulation capabilities. This position requires a thorough understanding of fluid dynamics as well as the ability to innovate and improve simulation methodologies to ensure the optimal integration of new technologies and enhancements into our product development processes.This role is based from our headquarters within Slough working Monday to Friday normal office hours.John Crane is an equal opportunity employer.
