Herchel Smith Teaching/Research Fellowship in Law

Applications are invited for a Teaching / Research Fellowship in Law, each tenable for 5 years from 1st October 2023.  Those appointed will be required to pursue their own research and to teach for 6 hours per week for the College.  Applicants are required to have a record of excellence in research, or equivalent commercial experience, with research interests within the areas of teaching and research undertaken by the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Law.  There is a preference for a candidate able to teach at least one of the following:

  • Civil (Roman) Law
  • Law of Tort
  • Criminal Law
  • Constitutional Law
  • Land Law
  • Contract Law
  • Equity/the law of Trusts

    Salary: £27,137- £29,908 per annum (inclusive of 4.5% split shift payment)

    The catering team at Emmanuel College (known as ‘Emma’) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Chef de Partie. Boasting a Head Chef who has represented the UK as part of National Culinary Team, ‘Emma’ is renowned for its excellent food. The catering team provides high quality dining and an efficient and professional standard of service to College members and external clients. Food service ranges from high volume cafeteria-style service to fine dining.  Made up of 2 teams of 4 chefs working opposite shift patterns (including split shift working), the team is close-knit and supportive. Workload varies through the academic year and during holiday times, when conferences, weddings and special events are hosted. Personal and professional development are a priority, enabling employees to flourish. Participation in the various competitive catering events both locally and nationally is encouraged and supported.

      The successful candidate will have a minimum of NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Professional Cookery, a passion for food and cookery, be a great team player and able to demonstrate a working knowledge of food law and allergen information.  This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, including some evening and alternate weekends on a rota basis.     The College is seeking to appoint casual catering staff to provide a high quality food service within its busy Front of House Department.  A variety of shifts are available including weekends and evenings.

    Rate of pay is £9.50 – £11.00 per hour.
