ELEVATE Nutrition (Enhancing Local Efforts for Vital, Transformative, and Evidence-Based Nutrition) is the U.S.
Agency for International Development’s (USAID) flagship multisectoral nutrition activity that advances local implementation of high-quality nutrition programs and policies to improve the nutritional status of women and children, particularly in the first 1,000 days. A five-year activity (2023–2028) led by FHI 360 with a consortium of strategic partners (Action Against Hunger, Bixal, Cultivating New Frontiers in Africa, GEMNet-Health, and Oxford Policy Management), ELEVATE Nutrition takes a multisectoral approach, bridging the gap between global evidence and local implementation.
ELEVATE Nutrition is expected to begin a project to support the Government of Senegal to strengthen nutrition within the health system with funding from USAID/Senegal.
The project will operate through September 2028.
The scope of work, which is being finalized through a co-creation workshop, is expected to focus on preventing and treating wasting and strengthening maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.
The Chief of Party (COP), Senegal will provide overall vision, leadership, management, and technical direction for ELEVATE Nutrition in Senegal to ensure an integrated vision among different components and actors and achieve programmatic results. S/he will serve as the project’s main point of contact for USAID/Senegal, government counterparts at the Ministry of Health (MOH), local partners including USAID implementing partners, and other program stakeholders.
Further, the COP is expected to identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, recommend appropriate program adjustment, and ensure smooth functioning with the donor, grantees, partners, and other key stakeholders.
S/he will be responsible for the overall program vision and implementation, including overseeing work plan development, supervising activity implementation, and ensuring that program activities meet the stated goals, objectives, and reporting requirements. The COP must demonstrate his/her ability to work in complex environments and manage diverse teams to deliver impact within agreed timelines.
The COP will report to the US-based Director of Country Programs and oversee Senegal-based staff and build strong relationships within the FHI 360 country office.
This position is based in Dakar, with requiring regular travel within Senegal and occasional international travel.
Office, including work plan development and budgeting, hiring staff, office procurement, and other logistical efforts.
Ensure positive work environment and effective teamwork across activities.
Ensure that project budget pipeline and procurement annual plan are regularly updated.
Travel internationally for participation in ELEVATE Nutrition learning and sharing events, and other initiatives, as needed.

Le chef du parti (COP) du Sénégal fournira une vision globale, un leadership, une gestion et une direction technique pour ELEVATE Nutrition au Sénégal afin de garantir une vision intégrée entre les différentes composantes et acteurs et d’obtenir des résultats programmatiques.
Il/elle servira de point de contact principal du projet pour l’USAID/Sénégal, les homologues gouvernementaux du ministère de la Santé, les partenaires locaux, y compris les partenaires de mise en œuvre de programmes de l’USAID, et d’autres parties prenantes du programme.
En outre, la COP devrait identifier en temps opportun les problèmes et les risques liés à la mise en œuvre du programme, recommander les ajustements appropriés du programme et assurer le bon fonctionnement avec le donateur, les bénéficiaires, les partenaires et les autres parties prenantes clés.
Il/elle sera responsable de la vision globale et de la mise en œuvre du programme, notamment en supervisant l’élaboration du plan de travail, la supervision de la mise en œuvre des activités et en veillant à ce que les activités du programme répondent aux buts, objectifs et exigences en matière de rapports requis.
Le COP doit démontrer sa capacité à travailler dans des environnements complexes et à gérer des équipes diverses pour avoir un impact dans les délais convenus.
Le COP rendra compte au directeur des programmes pays basé aux États-Unis, supervisera le personnel basé au Sénégal et établira des relations solides au sein du bureau national de FHI 360.
Ce poste est basé à Dakar, nécessitant des déplacements réguliers au Sénégal et des déplacements internationaux occasionnels.
