Job description
Civil Peace Service (ZFD) is a global programme aiming to the prevention of violence and promoting peace. It aims to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. The programme is run by nine German peace and development organisations in many post-conflict and conflict regions worldwide together with local partners and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). GIZ Civil Peace Service Programme in Palestine cooperates with local partners with the following goals: Promoting the psychosocial well-being of local actors and target groups so that the preconditions for constructive encounters and discourses are created; Strengthening the capacities of partner organizations and other civil society actors in opening, maintaining, and shaping safe spaces for children, youth, and their caregivers, within a context of long standing and ongoing experiences of violence and progressing fragmentation of the Palestinian territories and the Palestinian society; Supporting opportunities for encounter, exchange, and dialogue across and beyond geographic and social boundaries in Palestine. The Palestinian Circus School (PCS), partner to the Civil Peace Service programme, aims to teaching circus arts in Bir Zait and other cities like Jenin, Tulkarem, and Jerusalem. PCS addresses the emotional and psychosocial needs of Palestinian youth and children through innovative circus arts programs, aiming to foster creativity, freedom of expression, and social inclusion.

The security situation is very tense. Tailored Security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. Please also check the county-specific information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. GIZ runs a professional security risk management system in the field of deployment. Freedom of movement is strongly restricted. It is not possible for life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment.

GIZ’s Development Service is looking forward to applications of candidates with a professional qualification and / or university degree and at least two years of professional experience. In addition you hold the German nationality or the nationality of a member state of the European Union.
Willingness to travel on a regular basis is required.
