The post is 50% clinical and 50% academic and is a new post. The clinical part is based in the RDUH Trust eastern locality, based the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.The Healthcare for Older People (HfOP) department at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital is a friendly, supportive and thriving department. We have 20 Consultants, including 3 clinical academic Consultants working jointly with the RDUH trust and UEMS. We have a strong reputation for engagement in research and consistently high recruitment for many studies in the fields of stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.As a team we undertake a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities with enthusiasm and a shared commitment to deliver high quality training.The clinical role as advertised is focussed on geriatric inpatient work and front door frailty work as part of the acute frailty service. The post includes delivery of some clinical sessions at North Devon District Hospital, a district general hospital within the RDUH Trust’s northern locality. There is the potential for opportunities in most sub-speciality areas of geriatric medicine according to the clinical interests of the successful applicant. All consultants in the department participate in a general medical on-calls at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, as well as working within the HfOP specialty.
