Clinical Fellow in Lung Cancer and Lung Cancer Screening

Job summaryThis is a one-year clinical fellowship post designed to provide the clinical fellow with the unique opportunity to work with the lung cancer clinicians at Imperial. The role will involve supporting the lung cancer screening service through the Screening review meetings (SRM) and the post holder will be responsible for enacting the outcomes from these meetings. The fellow will support the clinical services so that they can understand the clinical pathways and be immersed in the service. They will be expected to attend and support the MDTs and do clinics. They will take part in one consultant led EBUS list and one consultant led pleural intervention list per week. They will be supported by the lung cancer clinicians and work closely with the clinical nurse specialist teams. The post would be well-suited to a respiratory trainee as an out-of-programme experience during specialist training, or as a post-CCT fellowship. If the post-holder is applying as a post-CCT fellow, they will also have the option of contributing to the acute medical take at SMH at consultant level, including providing respiratory input into newly admitted acute medical patients.Main duties of the jobThe post will provide the fellow with the opportunity to work with the clinical lung cancer team at imperial and gain experience across the whole lung cancer pathway, at the same time as working within the new lung cancer screening service which is a collaboration between Inhealth, The Joint thoracic service (RMH and RBHT) and Imperial. The post will be held within Imperial.A significant proportion of patients requiring intervention are on a lung cancer diagnostic pathway, and the Trust is currently working towards delivering the National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway.
