Job summaryThe UCLH Targeted Lung Heath Check is looking to recruit an ST3+ doctor to work in a busy, exciting department with opportunities for specialist experience and close working with world leading research clinicians.The responsibilities and timetable for the post are flexible, depending on the experience and needs of the successful applicant. The post would suit candidates who have a desire to increase experience in the sub-specialties offered at UCLH, or who wish to gain further experience of Respiratory Medicine at middle-grade level. There are many opportunities to access the research community at UCL/UCLH.The Respiratory Department provides specialist services for lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis / complex lung infection, pleural disease, sleep medicine, and a full diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy service including EBUS, fluorescence bronchoscopy, photodynamic therapy, laser, airway stenting and brachytherapy.The department is closely aligned with the academic units of Respiratory Medicine at University College London. which consists of three Centres with research interests in interstitial lung disease, acute lung injury, lung infection (including tuberculosis) and pneumonia, lung cancer, stem cell therapy, COPD, and alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency, and has an excellent record in securing external funding for training fellowships for clinicians.Main duties of the jobThe post holders will work as Clinical Fellows based within Department of Respiratory Medicine. They will help in the ongoing delivery of the NCL TLHC programme and provide clinical support to the team of clinical nurse specialists and administration staff. The programme provides lung cancer screening to high-risk individuals aged 55-74. The post holders will also attend 1-2 EBUS lists per week and learn this technique from Professor Neal Navani, Dr Ricky Thakrar and Professor Sam Janes. There will also be opportunities to attend dedicated interventional bronchoscopy lists.Previous holders have been successful at securing higher respiratory training jobs, and research fellowships.
