College of Biomedical and Life SciencesCardiff University, College of Biomedical and Life Sciences, School of Dentistry invites applications for the post of full-time Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry to be based at the Heath Park campus in Cardiff.We are looking for a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry who wants to improve Dentistry and dental care for children, to join our team. We would like to hear from you if you are a dental practitioner, committed to delivering high quality education and research. You will need the experience, vision, and skills to contribute to the design and delivery of our undergraduate programmes and to carry out research alongside our research group.We will support your development, helping you to conduct teaching that will be evidence-based, impactful and inspiring for students from the UK and around the world and you will have the opportunity to participate in internationally recognised research that changes paediatric dentistry. You will be involved in clinical teaching sessions within the dental hospital. Under the leadership of senior clinical academics in the Paediatric Dentistry Department, you will help continue to develop our contemporaneous teaching and supervise students in our clinical skills learning environment. You will be able to participate in our internationally recognised research projects. These opportunities will be tailored to your level of experience and your future plans, and we will support your development.You will participate in university, and NHS clinical, governance activities. The postholder may be asked to perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.Person SpecificationEssential CriteriaApplicants must be able to demonstrate:1. alignment to the School community culture of dignity, courtesy and respect;
2. possession of a BDS (or equivalent) degree and full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC);
3. evidence of engagement with further postgraduate study in dentistry (this does not have to be a formal qualification but must be able to be evidenced);
4. evidence of experience of providing dental treatment for paediatric patients;
5. experience of teaching clinical procedures;
6. knowledge of, and participation in, Clinical Governance and Audit.
7. Continued Professional Development in GDC-specified core activity and in areas relevant to Paediatric Dentistry;
8. ability to work reliably within a team but take independent decisions when necessary and seek advice when appropriate;
9. excellent communication skills, both written and verbally in relation to patients, students, colleagues and the public; and
10. independence in personal goal setting and organisation and excellent time management.Desirable CriteriaIt would be advantageous for the applicant to demonstrate:1. formal postgraduate study related to Paediatric Dentistry;
2. distinctions, prizes, awards, scholarships, other degrees;
