We are looking for a Clinical Research Fellow to join our dedicated team within the Clinical Research Facility.The successful applicant would be expected to fulfil the obligations of the Clinical Research facility rota, which includes care of patients in the CRF, recruitment of patients to clinical studies in the department. When not allocated to the CRF rota the successful candidate would be conducting research led by supervisors (Mrs Julie Cornish and Professor Torkington). The post would typically be for 24 months with an option of extending to a three year post for a PhD at the agreement of the candidate and supervisors.Applications are invited from Medical Trainees with a keen interest in Clinical Research to become part of the Research Delivery team at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. The post holder will perform clinical duties within the Clinical Research Facility. The successful candidate will take up this post for a fixed period of 24 months with a possible extension.Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant would be expected to fulfil the obligations of the Clinical Research facility rota, which includes care of patients in the CRF, recruitment of patients to clinical studies in the department. When not allocated to the CRF rota the successful candidate would be conducting research led by supervisors (Mrs Julie Cornish and Professor Torkington). Qualifications
Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • current GMC certificate

  • Intercalated Degree
  • Academic Excellence (Prizes, merits, distinctions)

Experience

  • Clinical Experience
  • Evidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance

Desirable

  • Evidence of interest in Colorectal Surgery

  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
  • Up to date with current medical practices
