A two year clinical fellowship has been created to allow the applicant to gain experience in advanced radiotherapy and imaging. The particular emphasis of this fellowship will be towards the technological advances in Radiation Oncology. This position could be adapted to an MD if the candidate desired.The applicant would be involved in developing clinical trials using the MR Linac with a particular focus on urological cancers and would be encouraged to pursue original research projects. It would be expected that such work would lead to abstracts, presentations and publications. There is also the opportunity to gain experience in phase I -III trials through two established research clinics.This is your opportunity to launch a career in world-leading cancer research. The post holder is required to have obtained:

  • FRCR qualification or equivalent
  • IELTS SELT or equivalent (English language test for oversees candidates)

This post is for 40 hours per week to provide support for Uro-Oncology clinics plus bladder and prostate cancer research taking place in the Radiotherapy Related Research Group within the department of Clinical Oncology.About usThe Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. Job responsibilitiesDuties1. Carry out data capture and data merger of clinical, radiological and pathological-relevant information at the different stages of the project.2. Investigate different adaptive strategies feasibility, scope for margin reduction and normal tissue toxicities.3. Coordinate the input of clinical, radiological and pathological data suitable for appropriate statistical modelling.4. Work with the clinical and research teams to develop best practice protocols5. Work with other clinical oncologists, radiologists, radiotherapy planning specialists, physicists, systematic review methodologists, and statisticians to ensure a collaborative working environment.6. Protocol writing and submission of protocol to ethics and R& D7. Clinical trial activation8. Liaison with clinical trials unit (CTU) and industry partners9. Identification of patients eligible for clinical studies10. Counselling and obtaining informed consent from patients for study entry11. Clinical management of patients for trial-related procedures and treatment12. Collection and recording of clinical data13. Attendance at follow up research clinic for data collection14. Liaison with statistician and data analysis15. Produce, or contribute towards, high impact peer-reviewed publications.16. Disseminate research findings through presentations at seminars and conferences.17.
