The aim of this position is to offer comprehensive specialist training in all aspects of running early phase oncology clinical trials including protocol development, regulatory procedures, associated translational research projects and presentation of research at meetings. Support and opportunities for pursuing higher research degrees are also available.These full-time posts are available now and will be for a period of up to 12 months in the first instance and there is potential opportunity to extend beyond 12 months. Applicants must demonstrate as part of their application, how they meet the essential requirements of the post. In particular, applicants should have a medical degree and GMC registration. Experience in oncology and clinical research are an advantage. We have set an ambitious target of net zero for our direct emissions by 2031 and indirect emissions by 2040.Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesFor the full Person Specification and more information regarding the main responsibilities of this role, please refer to the attached Job Description.The NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility (CRF) opened in February 2009 on the Ground Floor of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing of UCH, in the heart of Bloomsbury and is now located in a purpose built location on Tottenham Court Road.It is a partnership between University College London (UCL) and University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust. The facility is funded principally by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).The CRF is also supported by funding from Cancer Research UK and the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC). It has a remit to progress high quality clinical research in any domain but with a specific focus on early-phase clinical trials and experimental medicine.This post would be particularly suitable for a trainee who intends to pursue an academic oncology career with an interest in translational research and drug development.   • Medical degree
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • GMC registration and entry on the appropriate GMC Specialist Register
  • Completed core medial training or equivalent

ExperienceEssential criteria

  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Clinical audit experience

Desirable criteria

  • Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in Oncology
  • Experience in early phase clinical Trials
  • Experience in oncology
  • Experience of laboratory research

Skills & AbilitiesEssential criteria

  • Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, to delegate responsibility as appropriate and to supervise staff
  • Good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment & on own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills/verbal and written. Good command of written and spoken English
  • Understanding of research methodology

KnowledgeDesirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the Clinical Governance framework of the NHS (including Research governance) and understanding of current changes in the organisation and management structures of the NHS. Ability to act within these parameters.
