Job summaryCLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN PAEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY for THE UMBRELLA PLUS RENAL TUMOUR STUDY UKONE POST Available (ST4 +)36 months fixed term (possibility to extend)This post will play a key role in the Developmental Biology and Cancer program at GOSH together with the Genetics and Genomics Medicine program at the Wellcome Sanger Institute which aims to improve the delivery of a personalised treatment plan for all children with renal tumours in the UK based on individual tumour and germline genetics. The Umbrella Plus Research fellow will be part of a team of doctors, study manager, research assistants and data manager and will be based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. This 36-month Clinical Research Fellow post is particularly suited for a paediatric trained doctor (ST4 or equivalent) who has Paediatric Oncology experience (at least 1 year) and completed MRCPCH (or equivalent international paediatric training), and has experience in analysing genetic data from tumours especially whole genome sequencing.The post is to provide clinical and genomic expertise to support the full time members of staff who coordinate UK UMBRELLA PLUS projects working with Dr Tanzina Chowdhury, Professor Sam Behjati and Professor Pritchard-Jones.This post is due to commence in as soon as possible and by the 1st November 2024.Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will:o Coordinate consent for Whole Genome Sequencing for all renal tumour patients registered in the UMBRELLA PLUS study from centres in England, or whose samples can be transferred to English centres for consent and analysiso Coordinating the analysis of WGS data in the context of the outputs of renal tumour molecular and genomic data from The Little Princess Knowledge Bank of Wilms Tumours in collaboration with investigators from the Wellcome Sanger Instituteo Coordinate with the UMBRELLA PLUS team and the PTC lead clinician for the patient a bespoke real-time discussion of the molecular data and its imapct on patient diagnosis, acute management and future surveillanceo Coordinate at GOSH the clinical and radiological review of renal tumour patients registered in the UMBRELLA PLUS study from centres in the UK and Republic of Irelando Liaise with international members of the European SIOP Renal Tumours Study Group (SIOP-RTSG) to develop guidelines and inform the next European UMBRELLA protocol.About usGOSH is committed to recruiting the best person for the job, based solely on their ability and individual merit as measured against the criteria for the role; through a process that is fair, open, consistent and free from bias and discrimination.We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer and foster a culture where all staff are valued, respected and acknowledged.   • Medical degree and either post graduate qualification in paediatrics (MRCPCH or equivalent level in an area relevant to the multi-disciplinary team involved in childhood cancer)
  • Clinical experience in childhood cancer or a related discipline from the multi-disciplinary team involved in oncology
  • Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice or IELTS Certificate with an overall score of 7.5 or Occupational English Test (medicine version) with a minimum score of ‘B’ in each domain.
