FTE: 0.2 FTE (working 7.4 hours per week)

Duration of contract: Fixed term (36 months)

Salary: AM1 £64,546 – £71,305 pro rata pa dependent on skills and experience

Annual Leave: 35 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days

including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, Hertfordshire; Hybrid working welcome

The University of Hertfordshire (UH) is seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Lead in  Cardiovascular Medicine to take responsibility for leading a programme of research in the Centre for Health Services and Clinical Research. The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record in research and clinical excellence in the area of cardiovascular medicine, and will have a clear plan to continue growth in external funding and high-quality publications.

The postholder will be ambitious and engaged with the vision of the University and School of Life and Medical Sciences. They will contribute to our vibrant research environment by fostering collaborations within and beyond UH, disseminating research findings broadly, contributing to clinical guidelines and best practice and supervising postgraduate students.

Main Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will lead a programme of research in cardiovascular medicine at UH. You will seek external funding and publish high-quality journal articles; working collaboratively with colleagues at the University and across partner / external organisations. You will also be expected to contribute to postgraduate supervision.

Experience and Skills needed This post requires proven experience working in a research environment, with an established publication record, track record in securing external funding and proven leadership of research projects and staff. You must have substantive clinical experience in cardiovascular medicine at consultant level or equivalent.  

Qualifications Required Undergraduate degree in Medicine; PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject area; Further training/qualifications in a specialist area
