To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.NHS Education for Scotland, in partnership with NHS Tayside, offers a 3 year supernumerary training post to high quality science postgraduates who are passionate about clinical science, its role in modern healthcare, and are committed to NHS Scotland.Applications are invited from candidates with a First or Upper Second-Class Honours Degree in Microbiology or an allied scientific area plus an MSc (with research component) or PhD in Microbiology or related subject to undertake in-house training towards Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a clinical scientist. This is an unique opportunity for a postgraduate scientist to retrain as a healthcare professional. You will work under the direct supervision of the head of the clinical microbiology laboratory service to carry out increasingly advanced clinical, technical and scientific activities. The post holder will follow the equivalence training route managed by the Academy of Health Care Science and will be 3 full years of on the job microbiology training. You will acquire specialist knowledge across a wide range of procedures and a sound understanding of professional, clinical and scientific principles through professional supervision and self directed learning. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
