Taimaka works to save lives by treating acute malnutrition and innovating to identify cost-effective improvements to CMAM programming. We seek a motivated and detail-oriented OTP Manager to join our team. As an OTP Manager, you would be responsible for:
- Overseeing 6-10 outpatient CMAM treatment facilities, treating between 15-25k SAM cases annually
- Ensuring quality implementation of clinical guidelines at each of those facilities
- Training and career development of outpatient treatment staff in the CMAM program
Taimaka takes data fabrication and RUTF theft very seriously. These actions are grounds for immediate termination.
Location: Gombe, Gombe State. With regular field visits (2-4x per week) to Funakaye and Yamaltu Deba
Salary: 600k – 900k NGN per month, depending on experience
Contract Duration: 1 year, renewable; with a probation period of 3 months, subject to extension based on performance
OTP Manager Terms of Reference:
Direct Supervisor: Nutrition Coordinator
OTP Manager duties and responsibilities:
- Manage provision of OTP services in target communities, manage defaulter tracing, oversee follow-up visits, and oversee the content and delivery of key messages at OTP sites.
- Lead community outreach activities, including house-to-house mid-upper arm circumference screening, community meetings, and active case finding for malnutrition in children under 5.
- Oversee the timely identification of complications, non-responders, and two-way referrals to the stabilization center based on set criteria.
- Track malnutrition trends based on admissions data, and conduct mortality audits at OTP.
- Support the Monitoring & Evaluation unit during assessments and focus group discussions, and ensure timely preparation and submission of reports.
- Train and mentor the nutrition outpatient program staff and the integrated community nutrition mobilizers (CNM) through the identification of capacity gaps and carrying out refresher training and on-the-job training
- Ensure appropriate documentation of services and continuously monitor OTP performance and output indicators.
- Manage the effective first aid treatment of SAM children with complications at the OTP, including providing training for outpatient program staff.
- Ensure correct clinical diagnosis, comprehensive health checks, and appropriate treatment according to protocols for patients in the program.
- Ensure that OTP staff respect and understand all criteria for admission, discharge, and transfer to and from the OTP/Stabilization Center (SC).
- Ensure stock levels are accounted for and pre-positioned as planned by coordinating with the logistics department.
- Work closely with the OTP Supervisor, Triage Officers, and Community Mobilization lead at each OTP to ensure all protocols are understood and adhered to, and appropriate referrals are made to and from the OTP.
- Report progress and any problems in a timely manner.
- Manage the updating of patient forms, files, and OTP follow-up cards to ensure accuracy and coherence and track patient progress.
- Manage the provision of key health and education messages to beneficiaries based on protocol and guidelines.
- Support Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transition (SMART) and other nutrition surveys at the LGA level.
- Liaise with SPHCDA and the in-charge at each OTP facility to ensure conducive working conditions for OTP staff, proper maintenance of OTP workspace and storage, appropriate disbursement of stipends, and coordination with maternal and child health services (routine immunization, ANC, etc.).
- Liaise with the Research & Program Improvements department at Taimaka to ensure the smooth implementation of research and program improvement activities, including adjusting the flow of patients in OTPs, referring patients for additional data collection, and other measures as needed.
- Maintain a system of regular performance evaluation and documentation for OTP health care workers, CNMs, and program officers/supervisors, reviewing individual work plans and conducting performance evaluations according to standard criteria.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding of OTP health care workers, CMNs, and program officers/supervisors with the support of HR/admin staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- B.Sc in Nursing with 1-3 years’ experience.
- MBBS with 1-year experience.
- Knowledge and experience of CMAM.
- Has previous experience with managing OTP.
- Must have a valid practicing license.
- Good command of English.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word.
