Active recruitment for the role will begin in Q4 2024.Join Us as a Founder in ClimateAt DSV, we are always on the lookout for entrepreneurial-minded individuals with technical and commercial domain expertise to solve urgent unmet challenges through venture building. We are currently seeking passionate and driven individuals to join our Climate sector, focusing on addressing sustainable mineral extraction. You can read more about our thesis .You will join DSV’s venture creation programme as a Co-Founder in Residence and work closely with the DSV team, using , to spin-out a new company. During the programme, you’ll work on all aspects related to venture creation in this opportunity area, including working out the optimal approach to solve for the desired outcome, building a team and building a viable business case. Once the new venture is incorporated with pre-seed investment from DSV, you and your co-founders will own the majority stake in the business and continue receiving support from the DSV team post-spinout.The Opportunity Area: Sustainable Mineral ExtractionWe are searching for a visionary and technically proficient co-founder to lead the development of a groundbreaking in-situ mineral extraction technology. This technology aims to facilitate the mining of critical minerals, essential for the sustainable energy transition, without the need for traditional excavation or ore crushing methods. Our first focus will be on nickel extraction from lateritic deposits.Our ApproachThe global transition to sustainable energy hinges on the availability of key minerals. Our innovative in-situ extraction technology promises to revolutionise this space by:

  • Preserving Nature: Minimising environmental impact by preventing excavation and reducing chemical usage.
  • Boosting Efficiency: Dramatically enhancing the rate of mineral extraction.
  • Protecting Ecosystems: Ensuring the integrity of ecosystems by avoiding disruptive traditional mining practices.

Our initial target market is nickel from lateritic deposits, but the technology has the potential to be adapted for other critical minerals in the future.RequirementsWho Should ApplyMost suitable candidates will likely meet multiple of the following criteria:

  • PhD or equivalent industry R&D know-how focused on geochemistry, metallurgy, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or environmental engineering;
  • In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art (SOTA) technologies and constraints in high voltage applications and the mineral industry;
  • Broad knowledge in designing extractive systems;
  • Industry specific know-how, commercial knowledge (e.g., strategic partnerships, manufacturing, procurement etc.) and network within the mining and sustainability sectors;
  • Experience in building and scaling new technologies from concept to demonstration;
  • Experience in raising funds from early stage investors/VC;
  • Experience in building and scaling a high-growth enterprise (leadership/c-suite roles).
