Glocal Roots

Female Communications & Advocacy Intern
The Victoria Community centre: Women’s and Kid’s space

Glocal Roots is a grassroots organization operating in Greece and Switzerland since 2019, our solution: breaking the dependency cycle by building resilience and autonomy. We build structures and networks that support displaced people to become resilient, autonomous and self-reliant again!

Since May 2022 we are running a Women’s and Kid’s space in Athens. In our Center we offer a clean, safe, and supportive community space every day. Children can enjoy their time in our child-friendly area, which is equipped with arts and craft materials as well as many toys to play with. In the designated textile maker space, we offer refugee women the opportunity to attend sewing courses, sew independently. or become part of our sewing project (for very good seamstresses). Besides that we offer different activities depending on the skills of the volunteers and the needs of the women visiting our center.

Doing your internship with Glocal Roots gives you the opportunity to combine an academic internship with gaining very practical on the ground experience in a grassroots organization working with refugees.
