The Global Green Growth Institute has been functioning as a key development partner for the Government of Guyana (GoG). GGGI in Guyana has supported and implemented development projects since 2018 in the renewable energy and sustainable forest sectors and management support and has recently expanded its support in climate resilience and adaptation. Guyana has greatly emphasized addressing climate change because of its strategic importance, as reflected in Guyana’s national strategy, the Low Carbon Development Strategy, 2030 (LCDS 2030), adopted in 2022.
As a member of GGGI’s Guyana office, the Communication and Knowledge Sharing Associate will assist GGGI’s Guyana Country Office by supporting and implementing audience centric communication and knowledge plans focusing on brand visibility, impact and insight storytelling and knowledge sharing.
He/she will be based in Georgetown, Guyana, and report directly to the Guyana Program Manager with additional supervision from the Project Officers as support will be provided across projects. As part of GGGI’s global team, the Communication and Knowledge Sharing Associate will interact with GGGI experts located in offices around the world to fulfill the objectives of this project. S/he will work on a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including GGGI staff and consultants.
The Communication and Knowledge SharingAssociate will support GGGI’s Guyana Country Office by developing and implementing communication and knowledge sharing plans that effectively promote the achievements, lessons learned, and impacts of GGGI-supported projects. The role involves brand visibility, content creation, digital and social media management, event support, and liaising with stakeholders to enhance public awareness of GGGI’s work in Guyana. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for supporting the communication and Knowledge Sharing strategy for the country office.
The Communications and Knowledge Sharing Associate is expected to:
Engage with the various stakeholders and GGGI officers at the various levels of the organization and report to the Program Manager.
In close coordination with the various project officers, will provide all communication support to the different projects for which S/he will report to the project officers.
Build a strong collaborative working relationship with the Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit at HQ and ensure the smooth implementation of communication, branding guidelines and policies.
As a member actively engage with Global Communication Team, support global and regional communication and knowledge sharing efforts.
In this context, GGGI seeks a Communications Associate who understands Guyana’s national circumstances and socio-environmental norms, to communicate the work that the GGGI does effectively.
Support the design the GGGI country office communication and knowledge sharing plan.
Responsible for Country promotional materials including project factsheets, reference sheets, country brochure. Promote Guyana country specific content for regional and global awareness.
Lead on the management of GGGI Guyana country webpage ensuring that content is up to date.
Develop high-quality written and visual content, including news articles, press releases, social media posts, case studies, and success stories, to showcase the impact of GGGI’s work in a creative audience centric manner in Guyana and ensure effective dissemination of these.
Create and manage multimedia content, including photos, videos, and infographics, for use in reports, websites, and social media as per donors and GGGI’s guidelines.
Ensure all communications and knowledge sharing materials adhere to GGGI’s branding guidelines and reflect GGGI’s values and strategic objectives.
Based on data and research, support the creation of creative social media content and support audience growth, monitor performance for adjustments.
Monitor and respond to comments and messages on GGGI’s social media channels relevant to Guyana and support efforts to build community engagement.
Work with regional and global colleagues to track digital metrics and prepare reports on social media performance to improve and optimize engagement strategies.
Build and maintain relationships with local media, government communication teams, project partners, and other stakeholders to amplify GGGI’s messages.
Coordinate press coverage for GGGI events, activities, and project launches, including drafting press releases and organizing media briefings.
Assist in planning, executing, developing materials, managing media and capturing highlights for all events, workshops and consultations.
Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from GGGI’s projects for knowledge-sharing purposes.
Prepare regular reports on communication and knowledge sharing activities and outcomes, including digital metrics, stakeholder engagement, and media coverage.
Support the development of knowledge products as per GGGI guidelines and policies, including reports and case studies, to be shared with partners and international audiences.
Support the alignment of all communication and knowledge sharing with GGGI’s and donors’ branding guidelines, and ensure visual identity aligns with GGGI’s identity and message.
Following existing GGGI global guidelines coordinate and manage country program publication including proofread, design, and assist in publishing and wide dissemination of these.
Uphold GGGI’s values on inclusiveness and ensure the integration of gender and social inclusion in all communication and knowledge sharing initiatives.
This is a national position open only to Guyanese nationals or foreigners based in Georgetown, Guyana with permission to work and live in the country.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
Master’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field would be a plus.
Preferably at least 5 years of experience in communications, preferably with an environmental, development, or international organization.
Fluency in English communication and report writing skills are mandatory.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and engagingly
Experience in social media management, including content creation, engagement, and analytics.
Experience in creating high-quality knowledge sharing products.
Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and multimedia content creation.
Knowledge of sustainable development, environmental issues, or green growth is a plus.
Ability to manage relationships with media and stakeholders.
Creativity and proficiency in producing multimedia and visual content.
Effective event coordination and organizational skills.
Understand and actively support GGGI’s mission, vision, and values.
Process and share information easily.
Be able to lead where needed and provide solutions to project-level challenges.
Manage emotions and stress positively, build rapport, and resolve conflict easily.
Promote the optimum use of public resources.

The Communications Associate is a National Position at X6 grade level in GGGI’s Guyana national salary scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 19,146 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
