This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner.  We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you a strong, creative communicator with experience of communicating transformational change programmes? Do you have a proven track record of establishing and building strong relationship and influencing colleagues at all levels? Are you looking to develop your internal communications career within a collaborative University environment?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world.  We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.  Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

We are looking for a change communications specialist to help engage colleagues and other stakeholder groups in the work of our recently established Transformation Office. Part of the University’s Communications and Engagement team and working in close liaison with the Director of the Transformation Office (TO), you’ll help communicate the vision of the TO in becoming a centre of excellence at the University of Leeds, to take charge of transformational change and enhance the student and staff experience. Transformational change at Leeds is about making things better for people – both end users and those responsible for using, managing or updating systems, and you’ll be at the heart of telling that story to our community.

The Transformation Office helps ensure existing and future change programmes not only achieve their stated goals but are delivered effectively and align to the key principles of the University’s strategy and our values. It currently encompasses several programmes, including Curriculum Redefined, Corporate Processes and Systems, Student Lifecycle Programme and our Digital Enablement and Be Safe programmes.

As Communications and Engagement Manager for the Transformation Office, you must be able to demonstrate significant experience in working at an influential and productive level in change. You will have proven change communications skills and the ability to balance priorities, deal with complex stakeholder needs and succeed through cooperation and collaboration with others. You will be familiar with the principles and benefits of change management and happy to collaborate with other change specialists across the University.

You’ll be part of the University’s Communications and Engagement Community team, which helps our diverse community of more than 9,000 staff and 38,000 students to understand and engage in our strategic ambitions and key issues.

You will have evidence of your ability to plan, deliver and oversee engaging, creative content to a range of dynamic communication and engagement channels. You’ll need excellent communications planning, writing, editing and stakeholder liaison skills and an ability to assimilate and simplify complex information.
