Project Background:

Global Pulse is the UN Secretary-General’s innovation lab. We work at the intersection of innovation and the human sciences to inform, inspire, and strengthen the ability of the UN family and those it serves to anticipate, respond, and adapt to the challenges of today and tomorrow.

From broadening digital inclusion for women in Indonesia to predicting the impact of a disaster in the Philippines or building out a national data strategy in Uganda, our work spans a spectrum of innovations employing the five capabilities outlined by the UN Secretary-General common agenda report: data, digital, innovation, strategic foresight, and behavioural science.

The Global Pulse Asia Pacific hub, based out of Jakarta but serving the wider Asia Pacific region, is a frontrunner in practicing and advocating for inclusive innovation. The hub builds on the successful partnership model that spans over 10 years between the UN and the Government of Indonesia under the Pulse Lab Jakarta portfolio. Drawing on a decade of successes applying system design, big data, and artificial intelligence for platform development and data analytics, the hub co-creates forward-thinking solutions that inform policy, decision-making and creates systemic change.
