Salary: £28,000 per annum (pro rata for fixed-term contract)
Contract: April 2026 – December 2026
Hours: Full-time (1.0 FTE)
Location: Flexible / hybrid, with occasional UK travel
Reporting to: Deputy CEO & Head of Community Delivery
This role is funded by the ScottishPower Foundation.
The Rock Pool Project is a UK-wide environmental charity that connects people with marine nature through citizen science, community engagement, and education. We work with families, volunteers, and communities across the UK to explore intertidal rocky shore habitats, contribute to biodiversity monitoring, and build long-term care for the marine environment.
A core part of our work is the Big Rock Pool Challenge, a national programme that brings communities together through local hubs and participation campaigns such as the National BioBlitz, while generating valuable biodiversity data and skills development opportunities.
We are looking for a Communications Officer to take ownership of the delivery of The Rock Pool Project’s digital communications strategy.
This role is responsible for ensuring that our digital communications, including monthly email newsletters, social media, and campaign messaging, are delivered consistently, strategically, and to a high standard. The Communications Officer will play a central role in how we communicate impact, celebrate volunteer discoveries, engage local communities, and demonstrate national reach to partners and funders, including the ScottishPower Foundation.
Working closely with delivery staff and volunteers, you will turn activity from across the UK into compelling, media-ready digital content that supports participation, showcases impact, and strengthens the organisation’s profile.
