If you can answer YES to these questions Sussex Wildlife Trust might have the perfect role for

The Trust is currently looking for a wildlife information officer to join its Sussex team.
The Role
This exciting role at Sussex Wildlife Trust helps connect people with local wildlife and
supports them to take action. It plays a key role in providing wildlife advice through our
WildCall service and by the creation of engaging conservation content, used across the breadth
of our communications channels. The role includes responsibility for contact with all sections
of the broadcast media on conservation topics and issues.
The Person
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised individual to run the Trust’s wildlife
information service (WildCall) and deliver engaging communications on a wildlife and
conservation theme. The role requires a conservation background with excellent wildlife
knowledge and strong written and verbal communication skills. You will be responsible for
providing wildlife and conservation information, advice and support to the public by telephone,
email or social media. You will create original content, on a conservation or wildlife theme,
for external publications and be responsible for preparing, editing and proofreading copy for
magazine articles. You will also play an active role in supporting the Trust’s campaign work.
Sussex Wildlife Trust
Sussex Wildlife Trust is a conservation charity for everyone who cares about nature in Sussex.
We focus on protecting the wonderfully rich natural life that is found across our towns,
countryside and coast. By working alongside local people, we create opportunities for us all to
connect with nature and for nature to thrive in even the most unlikely places.
We are now in a critical decade for the change needed to protect and restore nature, with the
help of more people taking action for wildlife. Now is the time for an ambitious action plan to
match the scale and urgency of the challenges we are facing. Our new Strategic Plan
– Our Wild Sussex – was launched in April and sets out our vision and
commitment to turning the tide for wildlife so that by 2030, nature in Sussex will be in
recovery.
We aim to restore and protect at least 30% of Sussex land and sea for nature, inspire one in
four people in Sussex to take meaningful action for wildlife, build a stronger more inclusive
and diverse organisation and become a net zero and climate resilient organisation.
In order to encourage diversity and inclusivity within the environmental sector, we
particularly welcome applications from people who have an ethnically or geographically diverse
background, who are non-graduates and/or are living in economically deprived areas.
