UNICEF Brazil is searching for an enthusiastic Communication Officer to assist UNICEF Belém field Office in the context of COP30, and the events preceding it, as well as the new Goal Area on climate change. You will be responsible to assist in planning and implementing an advocacy and communication strategy to bring children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives in the country, with a special focus on the Amazon Region, and in enhancing the organization’s capacity to mobilize society for the climate crisis.

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Communication Specialist in Belém. In the context of COP30, and the events preceding it, as well as the new Goal Area on climate change, the communication officer will assist in planning and implementing an advocacy and communication strategy to bring children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives in the country, with a special focus on the Amazon Region, and in enhancing the organization’s capacity to mobilize society for the climate crisis.

Education

Child safeguarding involves proactive measures to limit direct and indirect collateral risks of harm to children, arising from UNICEF’s work, UNICEF personnel or UNICEF associates. The risks may include those associated with: physical violence (including corporal punishment); sexual violence, exploitation or abuse; emotional and verbal abuse; economic exploitation; failure to provide for physical or psychological safety; neglect of physical, emotional or psychological needs; harmful cultural practices; and privacy violations.
Certain UNICEF positions present elevated child safeguarding risks (“elevated risk roles”) and candidates and/or incumbents may be subject to more rigorous vetting and training.
