We are looking for a Communications Officer to join our small team here at Flight Free
UK. The role is part time (4 days per week/30 working hours) with a salary of £23.4k pro rata
(£18,720 absolute). We currently have funding for this role for two years.

As our Communications Officer, you will be required to:

  • Manage our social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, TikTok,
    LinkedIn and Youtube

  • Expand our reach across our platforms (followers and engagement)

The role involves:

  • Communicating with our followers
  • Using design software (Canva) to create visuals
  • Finding suitable content online to share
  • Creating short videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels

The role is remote (from your home location) and largely self-directed with
line-management and regular supervision from the campaign director.

The role is non-payroll, i.e. you will be freelance and will be responsible for your
own tax.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be:

  • Well-organised and astute
  • Personable, friendly and passionate about the cause
  • Motivated and capable of self-directed work

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in managing social media accounts for an organisation or
    charity
  • Strong communication skills and a high standard of written English
  • Good computer and internet literacy
  • Access to your own laptop

The organisation

Flight Free UK is a behaviour change charity that encourages people to fly less, in
order to reduce emissions and create a social shift away from taking flights as the norm. We
have been running for five years and are looking to expand our reach through this
role.

The team is led by the director Anna Hughes, the only full time member of staff. We
have a vibrant team of volunteer interns which changes every few months. There is no office and
as such we all work remotely, from home. We hold monthly video calls for the whole
team.

Interviews: week beginning 17th March

Start date: 24th March
