Job Summary The Communications Specialist develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of UWM Student Affairs and UWM Student Union Marketing communication goals.
Duties:

  • Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives for the Division of Student Affairs and Student Affairs administration at the direction of the UWM Student Union Associate Director for Marketing
  • Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns for the Division of Student Affairs and for UWM Union Marketing
  • Plans editorial content according to established goals and objectives
  • Communicates with Student Affairs Administration stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in English, Writing, Marketing, Communications, Applied Business or a closely related field
  • 1 year of professional experience as a copywriter, technical writer, or related field
  • Previous experience participating in professional/executive meetings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, or Business
  • 1+ years’ experience in project/case management in a communications or business field
  • 1+ years’ experience in Higher Education, specifically Student Affairs or Student Services Administration
  • Demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Office applications, or an equivalent
Target Salary Range $38,000 – $44,000
