About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with interest and experience in community
organising, climate justice, and tackling fuel poverty. You will be coordinating and delivering
community energy engagement initiatives in London, and supporting Londoners from disadvantaged
backgrounds to participate in and benefit from the energy transition. This role involves a
mixture of project management and delivery on the ground, so there will be a lot of variety for
the right person.
Reporting to our Communities Programme Manager, you will work collaboratively across all of
Repowering London’s teams to support the development of local community energy cooperatives,
and to coordinate and deliver creative engagement activities. In practice this means:
- Managing 1-3 Community Lead(s) and/or Project Officer(s)
- Supporting the development of our local co-operatives by managing community engagement
activities across London, working in collaboration with our Community Leads, Project Officers,
co-operative members and directors, and volunteers - Managing and delivering energy affordability initiatives, at least during the first year,
with support from other Repowering London team members - Reviewing and improving our toolkit of community engagement approaches, centring diversity
and inclusion - Maintaining and building strong relationships with local stakeholders, smaller funding
partners, and volunteers - Contributing to funding applications for community engagement and co-operative development
- Representing Repowering London and our co-operatives at local and national events
Our team works in a flexible and hybrid way, with most members of the team coming into our
office in Brixton at least 2-3 days a week. As this role involves managing others and building
relationships with community stakeholders, you will likely be expected to work in person in
Brixton or at other community venues a minimum of 2 days a week. Some evening and weekend work
will be required for community events.
