About usAt Conception X, we help PhD researchers create deeptech startups and accelerate scientific breakthroughs. We launched seven years ago as a public innovation pilot at University College London and now run Europe’s leading cross-university deeptech venture creation programme. To date, we have recruited aspiring PhD founders from more than 60 universities, built 570+ founding teams across eight cohorts, and helped our portfolio startups raise more than £115 million.The roleWe are looking for a proactive Community Lead to strengthen and support our dynamic, multi-layered community, and push it to the next level . Our growing network includes students, academics, industry leaders, startup and deeptech experts, investors, and other key stakeholders. You’ll bring experience in community building and a passion for creating an engaged, thriving deeptech ecosystem to support our growing programme for PhD students. You’ll feel comfortable engaging diverse audiences and presenting with confidence. It’s an exciting role that you can make your own – with a lot of room for growth as the company expands. We are looking for someone based in London, with opportunities to work from our office and from home.Main duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:Community EngagementLead community engagement efforts to foster meaningful connections, active participation, and long-term engagement.Support the Programme and Portfolio Manager in engaging current students and alumni by facilitating cohort meetups, promoting knowledge sharing, and strengthening cohort identity.Build and nurture relationships with academics, industry experts, investors, and other key stakeholders, including maintaining and expanding our network of experts. Ensure efforts are aligned and collaborated with the Chief Strategy Officer on the partnership initiatives, where relevant.Regularly assess the impact of community initiatives and events, providing insights and recommendations to enhance engagement and effectiveness.Enter, manage, and maintain community data within the CRM system, ensuring accuracy and consistencyRepresent Conception X at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance community growth and brand visibility.Programme Outreach & SupportAssist the Programme and Portfolio Manager with outreach and sourcing efforts to attract top applicants from universities across the UK and Europe.Support cohort recruitment process by attending key recruitment events, including preparation and delivery of information sessions, and liaison with university contacts,Coordinate with the Marketing team to maximise the marketing efforts aimed at driving programme awareness and demand during recruitment campaigns, including tracking and evaluating engagement effortsAssist with maintaining and updating marketing materials and our online platforms,Assist with programme delivery to ensure a seamless experience for participants, including on-the-day support for both online and in-person events.Undertake any additional tasks deemed appropriate and within the individual’s competence.Qualifications:3-5 years of experience in fast-paced environments with a focus on community management, programme management or other relevant experiencePrevious experience in event planning or organising community-building activities.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and other key stakeholders.Great people and communication skills (both verbal and written) to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders.Strong presentation skillsAbility to track, measure, and analyse community engagement metrics to improve strategies.Knowledge of CRM tools, Slack, Zoom, and other community management or communication platforms.Comfortable with a variety of responsibilities – we’re lean so we all have to roll up our sleeves!Bonus points:Experience working in a startup ecosystem or related environments (accelerators, incubators, venture capital or similar)Benefits:
