Purpose of Contract: To enhance the capacities of Badael’s Civic Awareness Program team in northwest and northeast Syria on the matter of community organizing and the correlated practical implementation, in addition to supporting the Civic Awareness northeast and northwest campaign leaders and organizers with coaching and mentoring on organizing and implementing campaigns as well as campaign follow-up mechanisms.

Job Summary: Badael is seeking a community organizing trainer with expertise and a proven track record of supporting community campaigns, to train Badael’s Civic Awareness program team. To ensure the training’s success, the chosen candidate must, train the program team on the aims, elements, and guiding principles of community organizing, the practical steps required to carry out a campaign and how to develop strategic plans for a community campaign. The successful candidate will also be required to train the program team on various community organizing tools and approaches, the campaign implementation process, and how to clearly define the roles and responsibilities of a campaign and organizing team. Lastly, the successful candidate must train the program team on safeguarding and no harm principles as it relates to community organizing. The selected candidate will also be required to coach and mentor campaign leaders and organizers from Badael’s Civic Awareness Program in northwest and northeast Syria from the starting point to the endline of the Civic Awareness campaign activities, on how to design and practically implement a community campaign, how to engage community members as target groups and right holders, how to record success stories and how to document successes and challenges in campaign reports.

The consultant shall perform the following duties:

  • Preparing the training material, which includes: the training agenda – an extensive training guide that includes practical exercises – presentations – evaluation forms for the participants.
  • Training the program team on concept of community organizing and leadership.
  • Training the team on community organization practices.
  • Sending the training reports and all trainings materials.
  • Approving the copy of rights of the training materials Guide to Badael
  • Providing advice to the program team on how to manage and design community campaigns, and the mechanism for field follow-up and writing campaign reports.
  • Training staff members to ensure proper implementation of the training and its materials for Rightsholders & their campaigns.
  • Coaching and mentoring campaigns organizers and leaders to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign activity, we have different campaigns in different locations.
  • Sending a detailed report on the training, consultation, list of recommendations and Challenges, process that took place for the program team.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • University degree in Business Management, Social Sciences, or related fields to the vacancy.
  • The Candidate must be a certified trainer in the field of community organizing and campaign design, with previous experience in holding similar training.
  • Experience in delivering training and capacity-building sessions.
  • Work experience with civil society organizations.
  • Skilled in working with MS. Office computer programs.
  • Coaching and Mentoring skills
  • Arabic is a must; English is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of the Syrian Context and its civil society is essential.
