We think you’d be a tree-mendous asset to our team!As the Communications Advisor, Community Relations, you will be a vital part of the Corporate Affairs team overseeing Canfor’s giving program, including “Good Things Come From Trees,” and supporting community outreach in Canada and the U.S. Your role includes building long-term relationships and managing resources to create meaningful impacts aligned with our values. Working with the Manager, Community Relations, you will coordinate and implement Canfor’s corporate giving strategy and support outreach. This position is based in Vancouver, serving operations in Canada and the United States.The life of the Community Relations Advisor includes:

  • Implement Canfor’s comprehensive corporate giving strategy:
  • Foster positive change by developing strategic community partnerships.
  • Enhance Canfor’s brand and relationships with communities and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and tracking of community giving budgets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify giving opportunities and track applications.
  • Develop community engagement and social investment evaluation mechanisms, and prepare quarterly and annual reports for leadership and charity reporting requirements.

Support Canfor’s community relations engagement and outreach by:Admin Management

  • Compiling and maintaining community profiles
  • Maintaining a database to track engagement and contacts, ensuring proactive resolution of concerns, leveraging alignment opportunities, and following through on commitments.
  • Leading and/or supporting the planning and production of events, managing logistics and staff attendance
  • Managing deliverables, timelines, and budgets
  • Data management and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting

Communications

  • Preparing presentations, briefing notes, and communications materials for community and stakeholder meetings
  • Developing and executing marketing strategies to promote community engagement and social impact initiatives
  • Representing the company at events
  • Developing communications plans and collateral materials, including writing engaging content relating to community engagement and social impact work for all Canfor’s channels
  • Writing for various platforms, creative content, and internal/external stories about Canfor community work

For this role, come equipped with:

  • A university degree, completion of a college diploma or combination of related education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, community or public relations
  • Experience building relationships with internal departments external partners, and vendors
  • Ability to take initiative and manage project requests
  • Ability to apply strong research, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and across multiple departments as well as independently
  • Solid PowerPoint skills
  • Exceptional ability to write clearly and creatively across a variety of styles and media
  • Strong collaborator with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong comfort with data management and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience building relationships with internal departments external partners, and vendors
