Strawson Ltd is a substantial family owned arable and root vegetable growing and packing business based in Nottinghamshire but with production sites in Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Shropshire and Scotland. The business is seeking to appoint an experienced agronomist to work closely alongside the Crops Business Manager focussing on both arable and vegetable enterprises.The successful applicant will have experience and understanding of all aspects of crop production, preferably on a large scale, as well as the delivery of detailed agronomic support and budgeting. The key skills we are seeking are: firstly, a passion and ability to grow crops cost effectively coupled with a practical approach to communication and knowledge transfer with the operational teams. Secondly, an interest and desire to use technology to both reduce costs and improve decision making. The role will encompass all aspects of crop nutrition, disease and weed control and operational planning.This new role has significant opportunity for personal development within a highly successful family farm business and it will suit applicants who are seeking greater autonomy and responsibility.
