We need to you to help us with that transformation, to give our staff, students and researchers the skills they need to operate in a 21st century university.

This is a unique opportunity to join the digital transformation programme as a Training Manager inside two of our new Competency Centres, each focusing on key areas of emergent technology for the University: Automation, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.

This role is a two-year fixed term contract and will play a key role in the success of the programme. You will help us to understand our skills needs, and then identify and source the training that will fulfil them.

This is a fantastic role for someone with deep experience in training and skills development, who is ready to develop their technical knowledge and extend it across multiple different domains.

About the Role

As part of Oxford’s Digital Transformation Programme, we have set up several Competency Centres. These are small, dynamic teams, acting as go-to experts and developers of the key technologies which staff, students and researchers need to understand. This role will work across two of the centres: the centre for Automation, Artificial Intelligence & Workflow; and the centre for Research Cloud & Machine Learning Computing.

You will take responsibility for providing training leadership for the centre helping it to improve skills and expertise in solving practical business problems through the application of the centre’s technologies. You will also coordinate and oversee the process of sourcing and delivering training and take a key role in managing the network of people taking part in that training across the University.

You will be supported to gain additional technical skills and expertise through a process of formal professional development, in order to help the Competency Centres to support a wide variety of emerging and fast-developing technologies.

About You

You will have experience of coordinating, sourcing and helping to deliver training courses for developing technical or digital skills.

You will understand the needs of users and the possibilities offered by high quality training.

You will have excellent communication skills and be confident in your ability to engage with members of the University at all levels.

You will have experience of one or more of the following technologies; or be prepared, after recruitment, to gain competency around one or more of the following technologies: workflow applications (eg. Microsoft PowerApps, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Flow, Microsoft SharePoint Online Workflow); artificial intelligence for business applications; robotic process automation.

You will have knowledge of, or be prepared, after recruitment, to gain competency around cloud-based computing and integration with a platform such as Microsoft Azure Integration Services, Dell Boomi, Oracle Integration or Amazon Simple Workflow Services

You will have the ability to set your own workload and inspire others to use their own initiative.

You will have a positive attitude with a flexible and adaptable approach to your work, and be comfortable when priorities suddenly need to change.
