In return, we promise to provide support, opportunities and performance-led financial rewards at a workplace where you can shape the future, win as a team and grow with us.About the roleWe’re looking for a Compliance Lawyer to join our dynamic team!What you’ll do here:Act as Compliance, Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel on behalf of IFC and its subsidiaries, primarily in the areas of compliance and insurance regulationProvide legal and regulatory advice and guidance on a wide range of Federal and Provincial regulatory matters and projects related to the financial services sector.Support in all areas of our compliance framework, including:Lead and oversee compliance training and awareness on a wide range of compliance topicsConduct compliance assurance over IFC business activities to ensure adherence to and compliance with external laws, regulation and internal policyPlay an active role in supporting stakeholders in the investigation, management, and resolution of compliance incidents and breachesManage regulatory examinations, engagements and reviews; support business stakeholders with preparation in advance of regulator meetings; track actions to closure and ensure actions are well embedded and sustainedParticipate in horizon scanning and support business with the legislative change process to ensure compliance with regulatory changes in our external environmentProactively develop and/or implement policies, procedures, and best practicesEnsure the integrity and values of the organization are always respectedWhat you’ll bring to the table:Member of the Law Society of Ontario, NL or Member of The Barreau du Quebec3+ years of experience at a large firm or large in-house department in regulatory compliance, insurance law or other regulated industryExcellent drafting, negotiation, training, and communication skillsConfidence managing files independently with minimal supportSound judgment and the ability to assess the practical implications of legal risksAbility to proactively identify legal and reputational risks and propose innovative business solutionsAbility to build relationships with business units and stakeholders and influence decision-making at the operational and corporate levelAbility to collaborate well with othersCapacity to prioritize and handle several files and projects at onceComfort with technology tools, including good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPointBilingualism required (French and English)] Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the countryNo Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada#LI-HybridWhat we offerOur hybrid work model provides the balance between working from home and enjoying meaningful in-person interactions.Working here means you’ll be empowered to be and do your best every day.
