Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust
Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust (MGET) is an independent charitable trust set up in 2010 to
monitor, protect, and improve the natural environment across a 1,600ha area of the Upper Mersey
Estuary, running all the way from the Runcorn-Widnes Bridge, and upriver as far as Warrington.
We are working with Halton Borough Council to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced
environmental Conservation Officer to join the team at the MGET as soon as possible.
In this role you will have the opportunity to join an established organisation looking to
expand and develop its activities, be involved in active nature conservation, research and
community engagement. As a Conservation Officer you will be contributing to the successful
operation of the charity through project work, stakeholder and community engagement and running
our social media.
We are looking for a highly motivated and engaged person who is self-driven and enjoys working
in a small team, with a track record of working in the nature conservation or charity sector.
Ideally, you are educated to degree level and will have a basic understanding of UK habitats
and species. You might have worked or volunteered in nature conservation and are aware of
community engagement within the charity sector. You should also be familiar and comfortable
with social media platforms and interested in content creation.
In addition you will have the ability to develop and maintain simple databases with good
computer literacy skills.
This is permanent position at 70% full-time equivalent, i.e. salary and annual leave are
pro-rata. Workdays are negotiable. The position is a hybrid position with regular office and
field work. A full driving licence and access to transport is therefore essential.
