and office working) and a working pattern suitable for you can be discussed on appointment if
you are successful.

You will be contracted to the NRW location stated in this advert, of which you will be required
to attend for regular meetings, training and for one-to-one meetings with your manager. These
will be planned in advance.

Job description

In this role you will be delivering the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) –
our Organisations’ purpose. You will work within a multi-functional team covering the counties
of Wrexham and Flintshire. Bringing your knowledge of protected sites, species and coastal
processes to improve the condition of our habitats. This is a critical role in NRWs response to
the climate and nature emergencies.

You will play a key part in the teams Environment Management work including incident
management, responding to reports of pollution, over abstraction and environmental harm.

The focus of this 3 day per week role is Protected Sites Management. Sites of Special
Scientific Interest, Special Areas of Conservation and other protected areas are regulated
through assenting and consenting of activities, and securing effective pro-active management
through advice, guidance and developing management agreements. You will develop and nurture
partnerships with local authorities, environmental non-governmental organisations, private
landowners and other groups and organisations.

This 24 hour per week role could be undertaken over 3 or 4 days per week. We are open to
discussing this at the interview stage.

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

Knowledge and experience of the following: 

  1. A good working knowledge of environment management, agriculture, fisheries, conservation or
    biodiversity, with focused experience in one of these distinct areas of the team remit.
  2. An understanding of how these multi-functional teams can contribute to the sustainable
    management of natural resources.
  3. Ensure continuing professional and personal development, expertise and competence through
    formal and informal learning and certification.
  4. Strong and effective self-management and organisational skills.
  5. The ability to influence, negotiate and gain cooperation of others. Experience of dealing
    successfully with difficult people / situations is important.
  6. The ability to use specialised IT systems, such as GIS or NRW customised applications.
  7. Able to work well as part of a team.
  8. Hold a current full UK valid licence to drive NRW fleet vehicles (cars and vans).
