Consultancy-Leadership Development Training Program


TOR for Leadership Development Training Programme for Member Associations’National Leadership Team.  

  1. Background:

SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is non-governmental and non-denominational organization working with communities, partners and states to ensure that the rights of all children are fulfilled in every society. SOS CVI is a global federation working to protect and care for children who have lost parental care, or who stand at risk of losing the care. SOS Children’s Villages East and Southern Africa (ESAF) region headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia provides supports 26 member associations in East and Southern Africa (ESAF) region SOS Children’s Villages ESAF believes that the successful delivery of federation and Member association mission strategies and goals relies on the competence and commitment of its leadership and staff.

With an aim to strengthen the leadership capacity of member associations’ staff with leadership responsibilities, SOS CVI ESAF office has started a leadership development program since 2022 and would like to continue the journey by organize a four days Leadership development  training this year and  is looking for a competent leadership trainer/consultant company to conduct a 4 days training.  

  1. Objectives:
  • General Objective

The general objective of the leadership capacity-building programme is to build Member Association’s Management Teams’ capacity on selected Leadership areas.

 

Specific Objectives

  • Enhance National Associations Management team’s ability to drive Team Development within their area of work.
  • Enhance the National Associations Management team’s ability to make sound decision and involve team members in the process; and
  • Enhance the National Associations Management team’s ability to effectively manage individual and team performance.
  • Enhance participants capacity on value-based leadership principles.
  • Enhance participants capacity on change management and leadership
  1. Scope and Date of the Training

The consultant is expected to design training materials as per the specifications outlined in this TOR, deliver the training for four (4) consecutive days in a workshop scenario, submit training evaluation and reports and provide coaching for participants during the duration of the training. The first round of training is planned to be held Mid-September 2024. Applicants should be ablet to commit for this time. The trainings will be carried out in our Regional Training Centre located in Nairobi, Kenya. Based on availability of participants and budget, a second-round training of the same topic and material may be organised within 2024 or early 2025.

  1. Specific Tasks and Deliverables
  • Conduct a quick virtual or other form of pre- training needs assessment, based on the profile of the participants – their roles, prior training, expectations, etc.
  • Development/refinement of learning objectives, methods, and tools, based on a clear understanding of the TOR, participants’ assessment results, and additional inputs from the regional office HROD Department.
  • Prepare, submit, and present a well-organized content schedule and related training material including preworkshop read at least 7- 10 day before the training date in soft and hard copy.
  • Develop training evaluation form and conduct pre- and post-training tests and submit the results.
  • Provide coaching services for participants during the training session based on their observation and participants requests.
  • Develop the list of equipment and materials which are necessary to conduct the training.
  • Provide clear instructions/directions for class exercises.

By the end of the training, the consultant is expected to provide:

  • Certificate of completion for trainees to be signed both sides.
  • Training module.
  • Training report.

After completion of the training participants are expected to:

  • Have an enhanced ability to drive team development within their area of work.
  • Have an enhanced capacity to make sound, accountable and transparent decisions that involve team members in the process.
  • Have the capacity to effectively coach and mentor team members, lead the development of their team.
  • Have an enhanced ability to effectively manage and handle performance both at the individual and team levels.
  • Enhance capacity of participants on managing and leading organizational changes.
  • Enhance participants capacity on value-based leadership and role of leader in building value aligned culture.
  1. Training Content

The Training is expected to cover the following topics:

·         Performance Management and Motivation.

Strategic thinking and change management  

·         The concept of value creation

·         Developing and strengthening strategic mindset in your leadership role

·         Key concepts and principles of change management.

·         Change management process and frameworks, methods and tools for managing change.

·         Discuss and understand the challenges and best practices of change management.

  1. Training Methodology

The training methodology is expected to focus on modern interactive adult learning and must use at least 60% of each session for activities that engage learners.

  1. Requirements
    • Qualification and experience
  • The lead trainer needs to have master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Leadership, Management, Human Resources Management, Public Administration or related field of study
  • The training/consulting company or at least the lead trainer need to have 10+ years of experience in facilitating similar leadership trainings. Out of which 5 years is in an INGO/Development sector.
  • Have a qualification of Master Trainer.
  • Fluency in English language. French is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills and the ability to work effectively as a team
  • Have an experienced and qualified co-facilitator.
  • Legal
  • Valid Certificate of Consultancy Service.
  • Valid Trading License.
  • Valid Tax Registration Certificate (indicating PIN and Tax Compliance Certificate).
  • Full and accurate physical, postal, telephone and email addresses.
  1. Submission of Proposal

Interested and qualified consulting /training companies are invited to submit:

  • Technical Proposal containing
  1. Company profile and consultant CV.
  2. Training content with detail topics to be covered and methodology to be applied.
  3. List of at least 3-5 main clients who received similar training (references may be requested later).
  4. Other information that is relevant.

10.2. Financial Proposal

  1. Service Fee/financial proposal, which should be sent passport protected. Applicants will be requested by email to send their password for their financial offers after technical evaluation is completed. Sending non password protected financial proposal will result to disqualification.
  2. Copies of licenses (professional and business licenses) issued by the respective government body.
  3. Copies of tax registration (PIN, VAT registration number and Tax Compliance Certificate)
