Job summaryBarts Health NHS TrustBarts Cancer Centre – Gynae-oncology including brachytherapy, with another tumour site (Breast, Head & Neck or Lower GI)AdvertWe are seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant Clinical Oncologist to join our existing site-specialist multidisciplinary teams in the field of Gynaecological Cancers based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the Barts Cancer Centre, with some sessions based at Queens Hospital, part of Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. A second tumour site will be agreed in conjunction with the successful candidate (Breast, Head & Neck or Lower GI). The successful candidate will join a well-established clinical oncology team and play a key role in developing cancer services across the Trust. The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and welcoming consultant team, and to develop new models of care/services that support the people in north-east London and beyond.The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. This post is advertised as a full time 10 PA position; an alternative timetable would need to be requested prior to appointment for consideration by the Clinical Director.You will require full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice.Main duties of the jobTo contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high-quality evidence-based Clinical Oncology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.Leadership, development, and organisation of the services in their charge in line with Trust / Divisional business plans. Full participation in the management of the Barts Cancer Centre (BCC).   • MB BS, or equivalent
  • MRCP(UK) , CCT in Clinical Oncology (or within 6 months of date of interview

  • Higher degree, e.g. MD/PhD

  • Broad based knowledge of and understanding of Clinical Oncology, including radiotherapy, systemic therapy and the principles of Palliative care.
  • Specialist knowledge in the management of gynaecological malignancies and that of the second tumour site
  • Knowledge of delivering gynaecological brachytherapy services

Desirable

  • Experience in delivering gynaecological brachytherapy services (further training can be provided if required)
