It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.Barts Health supports the Pregnancy Loss Pledge and commits to supporting their staff through the distress of miscarriage.Job overviewBarts Health NHS TrustBarts Cancer Centre – Gynae-oncology including brachytherapy, with another tumour site (Breast, Head & Neck or Lower GI)AdvertWe are seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant Clinical Oncologist to join our existing site-specialist multidisciplinary teams in the field of Gynaecological Cancers based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the Barts Cancer Centre, with some sessions based at Queens Hospital, part of Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. A second tumour site will be agreed in conjunction with the successful candidate (Breast, Head & Neck or Lower GI). The successful candidate will join a well-established clinical oncology team and play a key role in developing cancer services across the Trust. The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and welcoming consultant team, and to develop new models of care/services that support the people in north-east London and beyond.The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. This post is advertised as a full time 10 PA position; an alternative timetable would need to be requested prior to appointment for consideration by the Clinical Director.You will require full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice.Main duties of the jobTo contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high-quality evidence-based Clinical Oncology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.Leadership, development, and organisation of the services in their charge in line with Trust / Divisional business plans. Full participation in the management of the Barts Cancer Centre (BCC).   • The post holder will work with Dr Melanie Powell and Dr Millie Light to provide the Gynaecology service for patients from Queens Hospital and North East London.

The post holder will be part of the team delivering the specialist gynaecological brachytherapy service.The post holder will also cover another tumour site for North East London patients (head and neck/breast/lower GI) to be agreed with the Clinical Director.It is expected that the post holder will actively participate in recruitment to and development of research studies related to their clinical interestsTo provide, with colleagues, clinical care and supervision of patients attending the Paget Oncology Chemotherapy Day Unit.To provide, with colleagues, care for patients attending the radiotherapy department and to advise and treat patients with oncological emergencies from Barts Health NHS Trust and also Homerton NHS Foundation Trust.The post holder will contribute to the training and education of oncology trainees and also undergraduates and non-medical personnel.Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria

  • MB BS, or equivalent
  • MRCP(UK) , CCT in Clinical Oncology (or within 6 months of date of interview

Desirable criteria

  • Higher degree, e.g. MD/PhD

KnowledgeEssential criteria

  • Broad based knowledge of and understanding of Clinical Oncology, including radiotherapy, systemic therapy and the principles of Palliative care.
  • Specialist knowledge in the management of gynaecological malignancies and that of the second tumour site
  • Knowledge of delivering gynaecological brachytherapy services

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in delivering gynaecological brachytherapy services (further training can be provided if required)

Training expectedEssential criteria

  • Higher Specialist Training in Clinical Oncology
  • Experience in teaching / training undergraduates and postgraduates

Management/Audit ExperienceEssential criteria

  • Experience of clinical audit
