We are looking to recruit substantive consultants to our Community Paediatric team in Newham for 2024.These posts are an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team within a multidisciplinary Community Child Health service in East London:Post 1 – Consultant Community Paediatrician (up to 10PA)Main duties of the jobThe postholders will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service within Specialist Children & Young People’s Services and will include responsibilities in the following areas:(i) Clinical activities: a. Consultant clinics and related administrative work b. Clinical triage of referrals c. Clinical supervision as Consultant of the Day d. MDT clinical discussions or meetings e. Any clinical patient-related meetings(ii) Teaching: a. To contribute to departmental teaching b. To contribute to teaching of medical students particularly in relation to community child health services(iii) Management and leadership: a. Clinical Supervision b. Clinical governance c. Management supervision d.   • oMBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • oMBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • oCurrent full UK GMC registration and Licence to Practise

Desirable

  • oPostgraduate degree in related child health or medical speciality, e.g. MSc, MD, PhD
  • oDCH, MBA or other diploma or higher degree in a relevant field

Professional trainingEssential

  • -Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Community Child Health or Paediatrics or equivalent (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
  • -Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) (CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation upon successful application)
  • oAt least 2 years General Professional Training in Paediatrics and at least 2 years Higher Specialist Training or equivalent clinical experience in Community Paediatrics

Desirable

  • oSPIN or Diploma in Paediatric Neurodisability

Clinical KnowledgeEssential

  • oExtensive experience of working in a multidisciplinary Child Development Team and the ability to seek advice from, share experience with, and offer support to other team members
  • oCompetent use of Griffiths III or other similar developmental assessment tool
  • oExperience in managing children with complex neurological and developmental problems
  • oCompetent in management of common general paediatric problems – acute and chronic
  • oUp to date with Level 3 competences in Safeguarding Children
  • oCompetent in supervision of Child Protection Medical Assessments
  • oExperience working in partnership with Education, Social Care and other stakeholders

Desirable

  • oSpecialist experience in Paediatric Neurology or other areas of related Community Child Health practice
  • oExperience in other areas relevant to child health, eg. child mental health, obstetrics, public health, general practice
  • oTraining in autism diagnostic assessment tools, eg. ADI-R, ADOS, 3Di, DISCO
  • oCompetent in autism diagnosis assessments
